Three!

Well, I have a three year old. Lily had her first kid party at Pump it Up, had a princess cake and a homemade chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, and got her first two-wheeler (with training wheels of course)on which she proceeded to zip around the basement at breakneck speed, overcook a corner and fall over. Luckily she was wearing her helmet. She then got right back on her bike and now rides at a snail's pace. A slow snail.

So far three is, um, special. She insists on wearing "ballerina" dresses each morning, and can go from professing her love for me and Husband one second to running away from us, throwing herself on the couch and sobbing fierce hot tears while choking out "Don't talk to me, Mommy!" the next. She is sensitive and strong willed, frustrating and hilarious. She loves princesses, singing, dancing, playing with Maya and pretending. She never ceases to amaze us everyday.

Christmastime!!

We had a great Christmas this year and luckily didn't have to travel. We actually planned on driving down to Florida for the week between Christmas and NYE, but then decided that would be frakking crazy with a nearly 3 year old and 3 month old. Maybe next year. Lily spent lots of time with beloved Didu, Papa, Kaarin, Auntie Gretch, Uncle Ash, Nana, Ota, and Uncle Andy. Maya got lots of extended family love, too. The highlight for Mommy was a trip by myself to Target the day after Christmas.

First Smiles

There's nothing like those first sweet baby smiles. I remember waiting and waiting for Lily to smile after she was born, but Maya's first smiles really snuck up on me. I have a feeling that this is how it is with baby number two. Things are really flying by. Before we know it, she'll be walking and talking. Since Maya will most likely be our last baby (much to my father-in-law's chagrin) part of me wants to slow things down and keep her small forever, but I'm looking foward to all of her firsts and watching her grow.

Lily's Milk

Since Maya's been born, I've logged many, many, many hours nursing. Lily finds it fascinating that Maya drinks "Mommy's milk" and has decided that her plethora of baby dolls should be drinking "Lily's milk." I find it fascinating that Lily's milk comes from her belly button and that its milk if Lily drinks milk and water if Lily drinks water. And Daddys don't have milk cause that's so silly. Here's a pic of her nursing Marisol.
